Mythological

Metaxas seems unaware that Nero was in power when Paul wrote that "the powers that be are ordained of GOD." Bonhoeffer was not a martyr who died for his faith; he was a criminal, plotting the assassination of a head of state. Not a role for any Christian, and especially a pastor, to play.

Incredible!

This book is incredible! Don't be intimidated by the size. The content is wonderful. Gives some neat insight into Bonhoeffer's childhood. Also, for those interested in the WW2 era and the years leading up to it, this book is a must read!!

One of my all-time favorites

This is a nonfiction work based on Bonhoeffer's life. Eric Metaxis did extensive research in order to introduce us to a true hero of history. Everyone should read this book to gain knowledge of World War II, the sacrifices made and the importance of standing up for what is right, regardless the consequences. I have purchased 3 copies of this book since it is one of my favorites.
