You can have your cake, but don’t eat it too!

Bone to Pick I know I said the previous book (#3 Paws for Cause) was my favorite… well, now this one is! I actually became teary-eyed at the end. I was crying tears of a love lost and happiness. Like one of the previous books, a dog that Macy was walking sniffed out a body. Ut-oh! And of course Mountain and Teapot were in this book, but this time they weren’t as suspicious of Macy. That’s probably because she’s handed them the perps on a platter a few times. Macy is meeting more people throughout each book and has actually made some great friends! Jaz is one. He really helped her out in this book and saved her quite a bit of money. In fact, all he wanted in return was a small amount of money and also for Macy to go out to eat. Another new friend is her neighbor Kyle who finally seems to be laying off on asking Macy out on dates and instead, he helped her with a really big task in this book. She also met the widow of the woman’s body that Macy’s dog found and boy is he rich! He asked her out, too! Since I’m counting, I guess, he’s the third man who seems to be showing interest in Macy. Geesh! All Macy wants is to live her life on her own terms and prove to herself she can do things on her own without needing a man to help, although she’d love to have her man back - Macy is a young widow. Her husband died in an accident. So back to the window of the deceased - he donates items to Macy for the dog rescue she volunteers for. After loading her truck with thousands of dollars worth of items, she returns to his house a second day in order to pick up more items he’d like to give her. He even cooks for her! She breaks her diet for a fattening taste of yummy-ness. Then something embarrassing happens and she winds up at the hospital… Hopefully the formal gala Macy and the crew at the dog rescue host makes enough money in the silent auction for them to save the rescue because as it stands they’ll have to close their doors in a month. No more funds, and all. However, a surprise is in store for them that may just save the dogs, after all. Yay! Well, that’s enough of that. Next is “Sell, Bark, Repeat (Junkyard Dog Cozy Mysteries Book 5)”.
