EMBRACE YOUR HUMAN SIDE

This book is about being real and most importantly being honest with your self. These stories aren't riddled in self scrutiny or sugar coated with happy endings. I feel like I just took a wonderful tour of many women who are trying to reconcile themselves and carve their own paths through life. The one continuous theme is that they are not willing to let themselves down, despite a wide range of consequences. My only criticism is the nipple on the cover. I've been walking around covering it up. It makes the impression that it is a book of erotica.

Body Work

Body Work by Hollis Seamon is wonderful. My favorite is "Body Snatchers: the travel game." I loved the fact that Heather didn't know who Jimmy Hoffa was and Cree did. Cree is a great character with her black fingernails, black outfit and one steel box for a suitcase. I loved the image of her black fingernails draped over the seat. At first I didn't like prim and proper Heather but then I had sympathy for her because of losing her twin sister. I had the same feeling for the professor, but I liked her in the end. She was hurting also. I liked the ending when Cree and Heather encouraged Hope to meet her lost love. GREAT BOOK!

I loved this book!

I wanted to express my delight at reading this wonderful book. Seamon's writing evoked responses in me that kept me turning pages, happily lost in her writing. Her women are solid characters without pretense. It is impossible for me to choose a "favorite" story, as each one touched me in a different way. I will say that her ability to give the reader a unique slice of reality with each character and situation, makes for a great reading experience. It's the kind of book, you can curl up with, forget where you are, and indulge. I have already four copies wrapped as gifts for Christmas. I you want to give a gift that will be sure to be earnestly appreciated, I suggest you do the same!

Body Work - Love It!

I especially wanted you to know how much I loved Ms. Seamon's book "Body Work". The women she writes about are strong, courageous yet believable. The stories are humorous, lively and made me feel good. The story I liked best was Gypsies in the Place of Pain. As a mother who has lost a child, I was amazed at the author's grasp of the sorrow and grief of parents facing a child's illness or death. I highly recommend this book.

Body Work by Hollis Seamon

I was delighted with this wonderfully imaginative collection of short stories which center around women who seem both magical and yet warmly familiar at the same time. Hollis Seamon's writing is marvelous - refreshing, funny, honest, and tender without a hint of sentimentality. There is an element of mystery and depth of character in each story's heroine which reveals itself through their pain and courage. I loved all the stories but my favorites are Body Work and New Hampshire Houses, both of which deal with agonizing secrets and amazing deliverences. Really remarkably good, satisfying stories from a gifted author.
