Of course I rated the book with 5-stars as I was the author's wife and editor. However, the only "editing" I did was to suggest thathe move the chapter, "The Day the Cat Died" to the beginning of the book because of its power, and as it is a metaphor for the rest of the book. Other things you may want to know about Al and the book: 1. Several years before he died Al asked a psychic if he would ever have a book published, his dearest wish. She answered with a strange look on her face that he would "before you die". Daryl Sharp of Inner City Books called five days before Al died to let him know that he was going to publish the book. 2. "The Day the Cat Died" was initially published independently in the L.A. Weekly by Michael Ventura. 3. Al was sweet, shy, personable, always interesting, and multi-talented. To note, while others will remember the wit and intelligent simplicity of his lectures and papers, one of my favorite memories is of him, shirt off on the roof of our three storied house, happily belting out German drinking songs while successfully snaking the toilets down through of all three levels simultaneously. 4. The book remains elegant, beautiful, timely, and maintains universal appeal judging by its translations, citations in the works of others, and its resultant number entries found through internet searches.
