MUST HAVE FOR IM ROTATION

First I have to say the Blueprints Medicine book is probably the best review book I've ever read. It does not replace the Washington Manual or UPTODATE, but its very helpful to have with you. While it's a bit larger than the UCV or BRS style books, I feel it is worth it. With each chapter averaging 6-15 pages it makes for a very flexible review schedule. If a student were to read it while on a medicine for 4-8 weeks it makes for a great nightly read. At the same time using it as a board review book is another option. Single chapters are easily digested with the help of numerous key point boxes and easy to read charts scattered throughout the chapters. Honestly, I found this book very enjoyable to read. The question section at the end of book nicely completes the package. While Cecil's is a nice reference book to keep on the shelf this book is a must to keep in your backpack and read on those 20 minute breaks on rotations.

A Must for Your Medicine Rotation

If you want to learn internal medicine in a quick amount of time, pick up this book and read a chapter or two everyday. It's not that difficult. This is a must for you medicine rotation as it will allow you to get a breadth of knowledge relatively quickly. But in order to be a superstar you will need to read up from a serious reference book and/or UptoDate on your specific patients. You should do this for every rotation. As for questions, the ones in this book are okay but you really need MKSAP to get thorough preparation for your Shelf Exam.

Excellent review for wards and Step 2

This book helped me rock Step 2. It may be inappropriate for Step 3, but for Step 2 it's very good. If you want concise review of relevant, high-yield topics in internal medicine, look no further. Helps for 3rd year rotations too.

blueprints in medicine (blue prints series)

The best thing i liked about this book is its clear, concise presentation of a complex subject. It is an excellent review book with outstanding presentation.what it is not is - it is'nt a comprehensive book for medicine but it covers all the common and high yield topics in internal medicine.Deals on the basis of symptomatology and diseases, a problem oriented approach which is very useful for usmle step2 and 3. The discussions deal with the disease, the clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and the diagnostic evaluation and treatment, all this in a very readable 3-4 pages with a summary of the keypoints at the end.The diagnostic evaluation and treatment part is very thorough.A must for anyone preparing for usmle step2 and 3. I highly recommend this book.
