I liked the book, i dont understand what people are complaining about.

Frankly, i'm shocked so many people didn't like this book. I thought it was a good book that discussed her growing powers, her growing affection for her good friend, and dealt well with the ongoing struggle anita is having with the men in her life. Frankly, i'm glad the books are more personal now then they used to be. Almost anyone can identify with Anitas plight, if they've at some point in their lives been in a relationship. The book was slower then some of the past books, but that was the point. She's getting beat up, blown up, bitten up, and so much more in every book, i liked thsi one alot. I think Laurel K Hamilton is one of the best authors i've ever read, but i am some one who enjoys personal interaction in my books more then blood and gore and mystery and murders and yada yada yada yada. To me that stuff gets wearing. I much orefer to watch the politics of the supernatural community she has created, see her powers grow and having to figure out how to handle the powers at the same time she has people wanting to kill her. I think this was a five star book. ____SPOILER____ the only thing that some what bothered me was that I dont think the newspaper situation would relaly have made Jean Claude look weak. (I wont give details beyond that.) I think that situation could have been handled better. Other then that i liked the book very much. Nikki

Great Read

This was a great book to add to the collection also just bought Skin Trade.

A slice of Jason's real life with family & problems

I waited for this book to come into paperback as I don't have a great deal of disposable income right now. As a consequence of waiting, I had seen plenty of negative comments about this book. Let me say right now to anyone who is ready to read the whole book, not the first 30 pages, this is a great book. In these books -- Micah & Blood Noir -- LKH is showing us these characters who happen to be werewolves or wereleopards, human servants, and necromancers; she has written about their lives underneath all the glamour and glitz. These are the moments when friendship matters, reaching out a hand to someone in need is what really counts instead of impressing visiting masters or a new werewolf clan's meeting site. It is also a book about Jason growing up in many ways; going back to the painful moments of a family that did not love him or accept him as he was. I thought this was a strong book, the many defects other reviewers have pointed out seemed very overblown to me. I don't want to spoil the book for those who are reading this review and thinking about buying the book, so I am not going to go into each specific complaint save to say this: I personally did not feel any weakness to the story or its plot due to a character's name or underlying subplots. If you liked Micah, Blood Noir is definitely its equal and is sufficiently longer as well. Also, if you liked this series and Jason, I think this book is a must read because it shows a lot of truths about Jason the man, not just Jason the werewolf stripper.

great stuff....really fun!

Great story on all levels, lots of blood, sex, and gore....nice one! I found another interesting V book that I loved: The House of the Vampire its even more sexy!

Everything you wanted

I'm a die hard fan but the last book bugged me. It feels more like the beginning of the Anita series. I enjoyed this book greatly but I recommend anyone wanting to read it start from the beginning with book one. It took many books and plot twist to get to blood noir and it was worth the wait. You really feel that Anita has worked through her issues and is ready to battle what comes next. I would have like to hear more about her day job but that plot has not been mentioned in the last 3 books. The Anita blake series is a must have and I have all of Hamilton's books.
