In his latest publication since his book, "Refuge", Jon Lobdell presents poems written during the pandemic of 2020. These poems reflect the isolation of sheltering at home and the divisive politics of the time. Yet as always with the author's ear to spirit and simple joys. As he says in one poem, "after being driven outside by loneliness, he found company in all the golden leaves covering the street." The "Blessed Earth" of the title is delicately observed and learned from as the author escapes to the mountains and beaches. Also it can be seen as our own bodies. When we observe our bodies with the same non-judgmental eye as the poet uses observing nature, then spirit may enter as easily as sunlight enters a mountain stream. Then we may find the timeless, irregardless of the times.
