Excelent weekend read

What a fun book to read, your just rooting for Will and Kelly to make it all work. A good book to forget all the troubles of the week and just to enjoy. Cudos to Ms. Greene.

I am the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris, and I have enjoyed it. -JFK

Kelly Rochard leaves her South Bend, Indiana home, alone, and heads to Paris, France in search of some piece of the deceased father she never knew. She is newly engaged to her childhood sweetheart and thinks the time away in Paris will also help her sort out the second thoughts she's having. While walking down a Paris Street she is mugged and hurt, left on the street with no passport, money, engagement ring, etc. The police arrive to help but have trouble communicating with Kelly and her High School French. Will, a reluctant but natural hero and bystander, steps in to save Kelly. Forced under the same roof with a sweet, funny, handsome and sexy stranger in Paris... Not bad! ;) This was a fun and somewhat unique tale. Most romance novels have two people coming together in a whirlwind, then some conflict, a break up or separation of some sort, then the resolution and Happily Ever After. This is more of a natural getting to know you falling in love kind of story. Kelly and Will are both at turning points in their lives when they find each other. They have as much in common as they have not in common and this book takes us through every step of this relationship. I had a few very small issues that brought this to a 4 rather than 5 star rating, but for the most part I really enjoyed Kelly and Will and all the side characters that made this story complete. Like the other books in the Blame It On series this one stands alone, no need to read the others before, but I recommend you do anyway; Jennifer Greene writes wonderfully real and rich characters. engaging contemporary romance

Forensic accountant Kelly Rochard decides to have one last fling before marrying in South Bend, Indiana. So filled with guilt that feels good, she flies to Paris to enjoy the City of Lights that is the hometown of her father. At a bakery she stops to buy coffees and croissant only to have someone mug her. She fights to hold onto her bag because of the ratty letters inside as the thug could have her credit cards, Euros, and all other assorted hunk, but high school French failed her. He cuts off her oxygen grabbing her throat. She faints and he flees with her bag. As the gendarme questions her, a man with a Midwest accent and a Notre Dame University sweatshirt Will Maguire comes to her rescue. He fled South Bend with no plans to return as he enjoys his aimless life in France. They are attracted to one another from the onset. However, she explains she came to Paris to resolve paternal issues; not to fall in love; he has paternal issues too that he has avoided until Kel. He knows if he wants his beloved forever he must go home but can you really ever go home. This is an engaging contemporary romance starring Americans in Paris (Kelly's name is perfect for this tale whereas Will should have been Les or Mulligan). The key to this fun tale is the metamorphosis of the lead male as love makes him lucidly see his relationship with his dad. Fans will enjoy this amusing poignant tale of love and family in two Notre Dames. Harriet Klausner

Make me smile!

This was a very good read. The story had humor and an engaging pair of lead characters who worked out their issues in a logical and caring fashion while growing closer to each other. This was a story about the mistakes people make in their lives and how taking the hard road to fix these mistakes can sometimes lead to something so much better. It's also about what it takes to create a lasting partnership and how no relationship can survive without forgiveness. Wow! All that and humor too! Kelly is a down-to-earth, steady woman. She's engaged and getting ready to settle into the life that's been prepared for her by friends and family. But, before she takes that step, she wants to find out something about the father she never knew who died before she was born. So she heads to Paris where he was born. She no sooner arrives than she is mugged. He takes her money, passport, engagement ring, and worst of all...the few letters from her father to her mother that were all she had left of him. She's dazed and in shock. Will is a carefree, irresponsible man who's still running from family responsibilities. He's no knight in shining armor (just ask him)! But something inside him urges him to help Kelly out when he comes upon her immediately after the mugging. What follows is a delightful story about lust and love, lies and forgiveness, and learning what you really want...and trust. The story was tight and flowed well. There were no TSTL moments and no HUGE MISUNDERSTANDINGs. The characters liked each other, were nice to each other, and quibbled with each other...just like a real relationship! I didn't cry while reading this book...but when I finished I did have a big smile on my face...
