Fantastically witty

Absolutely loved this book! I am into fashion, makeup, etc. but am also a conservative spender aka cheap; HOWEVER, that did not stop me in the least from enjoying and appreciating this book which provided insight into "that life" and subsequent fall from it. It is so sarcastic and witty; I was rooting for Jen. It's one of my favorite easy reads of the past couple years. I'll definitely be recommending this!

Hilarious, Witty and Tons of Fun!

My best friend, Sonja, (bless her generous heart) gave me this book after she read it and highly recommended it. I have to say it was even funnier than she said it was. Jen (NOT JENNY) is one of the most loveable, egocentric, witty characters I have ever read about. The fact that it's a memoir is even better! She cusses a blue streak and comes up with awesome one-liners. When she called herself, "Carbohydate Barbie" I cracked up and could totally relate. Jen loses her high paying corporate job and must (gasp) even sell her Kate Spade shoes on Ebay before all is said and done. Her man, Fletch, is a baby doll and true blue friend. The account of their wedding in Las Vegas (where, unfortunately a porn convention was being held at the same time) was my favorite part. If you're tired of the same old chick lit [...], get this refreshing book. Jen is an inspiring, creative survivor. I look forward to more books from her.

PowerPoint and Prada and Pearls ... Oh My!

Jen Lancaster is my hero. And not because I share her love of shopping and fashion (I don't ... most days I'm just grateful if the one pair of jeans I have that fit, are clean.) She is my hero because throughout some really gut wrenching trials, she maintained her very keen sense of humor. Is this book for everybody? Maybe not. But if you read that title and think 'this book is for me,' it probably is. Jen makes no apology for her self-centeredness, but rather makes it endearing. This book is laugh-out-loud funny. Bitter is Better

Bitter is the New Black is a hilarious and smart (ass) memoir that can't be put down. The pages fly as you read of a life of money, schemes, and designer labels. The book is extremely witty and in the end you're sad there is no more to read. Jen Lancaster is a fasinating and fresh author who makes a trip to the unemployment ofice a laugh out loud experience. Looking forward to more laughs from this dynamic author!

You know that LOL crap people overuse? It should be saved for the truly funny, like this book.

Jen Lancaster at her professonal peak was the poster child for conspicuous consumption and self-absorption. However, she narrates with such a comedic flair that you can't help but secretly hope she finds a way to get the $7,000 backless couch with tufted buttons that dig into her back, just as a thank you for the entertainment. When Jen loses her job and affluent lifestyle she eventually gains a husband, two dogs and the minions she desired all along (Blog readers, minions, same difference!)while treating the reader to what it's like inside a big city unemployment office; a special guest spot at her Vegas wedding among the porn stars; and what the temps REALLY write in their portfolios . Read this book in public at your own risk, as you truly will find yourself laughing out loud.
