Laugh Out Loud

I really enjoyed this book! It was pure fun. While my church ward is wonderful, I think I've met some of these characters! I am embarrassed to admit that it had me laughing hysterically at several points. So don't read it at the library!

New name, old book(s)

This is a welcome re-packaging of Smith's phenomenal "Trust Williams Trilogy" combined into one hefty paperback book and renamed "Bitten" (in the hopes of attracting a second look from the Stephenie Meyer crowd, perhaps?) This reissue should be great news for anyone who couldn't find the long out-of-print trilogy. The first part of "Bitten," previously published as "Trust in Thelma's Way" (book one of the trilogy) is so funny to those familiar with the LDS references that it begs to be read aloud to share Smith's right-on capture of how amusingly "peculiar" this religion's various adherents can be at times. The next two parts are worthy additions and complete this enjoyable tale in a very satisfying way, but do not reach the hilarious heights of part one (granted, it was a tough act to follow!) Smith is a gifted storyteller and his writings are a welcome addition to the LDS genre. You may also be familiar with his other novels: "Baptists at our Barbecue," "The Miracle of Forgetness," and "For Time and All Absurdity." But "Bitten" (aka "The Trust Williams Trilogy") is Smith at his absolute best. Happy reading!
