Grandchildren Love the book!!

My 6 year old and 4 year old grandchildren love the book. The pictures are really cute and hole their attention and make the story easier for them to read. Biscuit is just what they need to keep them invloved in reading!!!

Woof, woof! This is a charming little story for the emergent reader.

Biscuit was chasing a ball a little girl tossed to him. It was fun to play ball and he caught it in his mouth and was probably going to return it, but something else caught his eye. They were in the park and there was a little puppy inside a play house. Biscuit wasn't very big, but this puppy was even smaller. "Come out, little pup. What is your name? Woof, Woof. Come out, little pup. Biscuit wants to play! Woof, woof!" Biscuit put down his ball to take a close look, but the little puppy didn't want to come out so he picked up his ball again. Then he picked up a bone and rolled around to catch the pup's attention. Nope, that little fellow didn't want to come out. Maybe if he play acted and "talked" to that puppy a bit more he would want to come out and play. What do you think? This is a charming little story for the emergent reader. This book can be read with assistance and children will be anxious to get to the end to find out if the little pup will play with Biscuit and to know if he was a stray or if he had someone that loved him too. The charming watercolor illustrations are quaint and very appealing and naturally add a lot to the story. The "I Can Read" series has five levels from the read to or read with an emergent reader to the level four "bridge to chapter books."

BISCUIT

This was sent to my great niece in Louisiana. She said she loved the book, and I asked her what was it about. She did and she said she loved Buscuit.

Biscuit Books (I Can Read)

Great series for my five-year-old grandson. We all love Biscuit and do lots of laughing as he reads these books. He smiles lots and uses lots of expressions as he reads. He loves Biscuit.

Another fun Biscuit book!

Reviewed by Cayden (age 3-1/2) and Max (age 19-months) Aures and Mom for Reader Views (4/08) In "Biscuit and the Little Pup," Biscuit is at the park playing ball. On his way to retrieve it, he finds a little pup and tries to engage him in play. However, the little pup won't come out of the playhouse that he is hiding in. Eventually though Biscuit finds a way to get him to play. Cayden: "Why won't the puppy come out?" Cayden: "We play hide and seek too! " Max: "Hide!" Max: "Find!" Cayden: "Who is going to count? Can dog's count?" Max: "Woof! Woof!" Max: "Arf! Arf!" Cayden: "Why does one dog say `Woof' and the other one says `Arf?'" Parent's comments: "Biscuit and the Little Pup" is a great book for those just starting to learn how to read as it is part of the "I Can Read!" series of books. It has very simple words with lots of repetition and that is extremely helpful in encouraging word recognition. Although the text is basic, the book still has enough of a storyline to keep children interested. My children love the character of Biscuit and enjoyed joining him on this latest adventure.
