Great for use w/ kids

This book is a great one to help include your child in planning your Disney trip together. It includes maps of the parks and recommendations on where to eat. It includes the highlights of the parks. There are even pages for autographs and places to answer "faves" questions. Great book if you're planning a trip to the Disney parks!

Great Guide

Like most people, I took this guide and the The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World 2009: How to Eat Right and Stay Fit in Disney - The NEW Diet, Dining, Food, Fitness and Complete Weight Loss Book on my recent Disney vacation and loved both of them. The Birnbaum guide has better theme park insights and tips for the kids. The Healthy Guide to Disney is more insightful on the menus picks meals and activities for kids. I recommend both.

Will Stoke a Child's Enthusiasm!

When my husband and I were considering going to WDW for our anniversary, we happened to visit a Disney store in a mall. The manager gushed about WDW (doesn't everybody, really?) and showed us the Birnbaum's 2006 guide for kids. I thought we'd buy it, just to get an idea of what was in the parks and such. I really enjoyed looking at, but my 7 year old was VERY enthused! Needless to say, we booked our trip later that evening! This particular guide features 160 glossy pages describing all the attractions and shows in the four WDW parks. Peppered throughout the book are mini-reviews and tips by kids. There is also a rating system that shows if a ride is scary, loud, rough, wet, or dark (or all of the above!). However, I didn't find the guide accurate in terms of my own son. (He's 7 and wanted to experience EVERYTHING--even Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain!) But at least the guide tells you of those elements in case a child is skittish about darkness and such. Still, some of the shows were considered "dark" and "scary" (for example, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid), when I felt they were whimsical and very non-threatening. The book gives Soarin' a mere "dark" rating, but I'm tellin' ya, if you're scared of heights, it can be SCARY. I was shaking so bad when I got off Soarin', I couldn't unbuckle the seatbelt! (My husband had to get me out.) It was thrilling and unique, but I'd think some kids would be terrified! Kids will enjoy pouring over the colorful illustrations and photographs in anticipation for the big trip. There's even mazes, quizzes, and other games all throughout the Birnbaum guide for kids. There's lots of trivia in the book, too, as well as Hidden Mickey Alerts. (I wish I would have written some down to look for them on the trip! Maybe next time.)

Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids by Kids 2006

My son loves this book. It lets us know what rides are right for his age, there's different acitivities for the kids to do. Just a great book with a lot of great tips for both parents and kids.
