When you see this book ,you will be amazed. I have over 1100 books about Birds and nature in my personal library;and without doubt anyone interested in birds, regardless of where their interests lie;I can assure you that you will find this book a great resource. In many respects it is a catalogue;but it is certainly much more than that.Yes,thumbing through it,is like having the worlds biggest and most extensive birding supplies store right in the palm of your hands.Although it is dated 2005,don't let that deter you from having it. Although the cover price is $19.95,I picked up my copy for peanuts in a discount store---probably drastically reduced because of the date on the cover. In total it consists of nearly 400 pages. The editors are Keith and Theresa Sutton, who are very prominent in the field of birds and books on birding. To start off;the first 100 pages consist of 15 excellent articles on many aspects of Birding by some of the best known writers around. Some of which are;Top Birding Destinations,Christmas Bird Counts,Woodpeckers,Backyard Birds,Outwitting Squirrels,Keeping Records,How to Choose the Right Binoculars,Nests,Identifying Birds,Shorebirds,Recipes for Feeding Birds, etc. Then there is the section on products showing just about everything on the market with photos, details and prices. The feeders, bird houses, bird baths and waterers and roosts shown, are amazing and even give enough details for one to construct their own if one so desires. The same goes for birdfood products. Then there is a section that covers just about every type of binoculars and scopes imaginable ,including details and costs. Another section covers the extensive array of Field Guides,Books,Recordings ,Tapes,CD's and Videos, and Birding Software. The last section includes a variety of gadgets and gizmos that complete the picture of just about anything available to assist, and enhance one's interest in birding. Also included is a directory of manufacturers and an extensive index. A great asset, with a complete coverage of just about anything of interest to anyone who has slight or extensive interest in birds. It is so complete that it will be useful for many years to come.
