Old W.E. Johns was a prolific writer of extraordinary vision, and this is one of his greatest Biggles novels. It's a full length story, as opposed to many of his World War One books, which contained series of short stories, at one time published serially in magazines. In the story, a very young (19-20 yrs old) Biggles is on leave in London during WW1 and is mistakenly identified as a German spy. Intelligence urges him to follow this through, so he joins a German squadron as a double agent.Tension, adventure, sand storms, and the sands of the Middle East are some of the least of young Biggles' worries, as he meets his arch enemy, Von Stahlein. Algy fans will not be disappointed either, as he has a sizable role. This is a fabulous novel that will teach children the joys of reading and will enthrall the parents that read it to them as well.
My FAVOURITE Biggles Book

This books has it all. For starters it is one of the WWI books (only 8 of the 96 Biggles books are set in WWI). It has more tension than a James Bond film. It is also the book in which Biggles meets his arch-enemy, Erich von Stalhein. Brilliant stuff!
