What 'Loose Balls' did for the ABA, this book does for the WHA. The WHA was a rival league to the NHL for most of the 1970's. It is where the Great One, Wayne Gretzky, started. It is where Bobby Hull went to play causing the Chicago Blackhawks to fall into a lull from which they have not since escaped. It is where Gordie Howe came out of retirement and played with his sons. This book covers those stories, as well as many other equally interesting, but less known stories. The book contains the usual records and statistics, but also contains so much more. Many players from the league get to tell their stories within the pages. I have vague memories of the old Chicago Cougars, but at the time I never understood the difference between them and the Blackhawks. Then the Cougars and the WHA were gone and almost forgotten. This book brings the WHA back to life with honesty, humor and passion!
