You and your child won't be disappointed!

I don't generally take the time to write reviews, but after hours of enjoyment looking at this VERY BIG book with my 18-month-old son, I decided I should let other parents know what a worthwhile purchase this is. If you have a Sesame Street fan in your household they won't be disappointed. Just know this book is pre-Elmo so he won't be making any appearances. The book has no real story line but has extremely detailed illustrations of various landscapes; city (Sesame Street), beach and countryside, park, forest. There is much to talk about on each page. Even my 18-month-old seems to appreciate the detail. This is by far his favorite book and let me assure you, he has many. Just be forewarned if you purchase this book, your little-one will have it out all the time!

I had to buy a new book, the first one was loved "to death"

Our first book was loved to death by my sons. They are 2 1/2 and 4 and I am now ordering our 2nd copy. It is wonderful! There is a great variety of subjects covered like counting, opposites, playing, colors, etc.. We have MANY, MANY books, but my boys still read this one almost every day. I think the large size of the book makes them feel like they are "climbing into" it. You definately won't be sorry with this purchase. (the price is great too - I paid $40 for my first copy!)

A well loved book

I purchased this book in 1987 when it first came out for my now 14 & 13 year olds. They loved this book "to death". For some reason I couldn't part with it even though the pages were taped together after hours of page turning by my older kids. We now have an 18 month old. When we ran accross this book in storage, we brought it out for the baby. He thinks this book is the best. He sits and looks at the bright pictures, pointing to all the loved characters. Unfortunately the book was damaged in storage, so now I'm shopping for it again!!!

Perfect for toddler fun!

This is a sturdy book for toddlers to play with all on their own. My son will sit and turn the heavy cardboard pages, pointing out his favorite Sesame Street characters as well as everyday things that he recognizes in each scene. Sometimes, he will put the book flat on the floor and lay on top of it, nose pressed to the pages with delight. This big book is BIG FUN!

My favorite baby gift for baby #2+, older sibs can enjoy!

Big Bird's Big book has never failed to make a great impression--and my gift is always fondly remembers months later. Further, this is my favorite baby gift for child #2+. Usually, families with children have clothes and toys, and the older sib can feel jealous of all the gifts for the new baby. I always send a card that says, "ask your older brother/sister to read this to you" and it's a hit EVERY time!
