Maurice Denis... Little known but wonderful painter!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
This book is focused on 'decorative arts' but shows many paintings by Maurice Denis in it. The first time I saw a Maurice Denis painting at a museum I was enthralled - and recommend the book based on it's beautifully included reproductions of many Denis paintings. Although he is not considered a "GREAT" painter his work is stunning and worth reading more about. Wonderful find for any art historian or anyone with a general interest in painting/decorative arts.

Co-published with the Yale University Press, Gloria Groom's Beyond The Easel: Decorative Painting By Bonnard, Vuillard, Denis, And Roussel, 1890-1930 is an exhibition catalog which is profusely illustrated with both color and black-and-white reproductions. With an informative essay by Nicholas Watson, and additional contributions to the text by Jennifer Paoletti and Therese Barruel, Beyond The Easel is a magnificent, very highly recommended addition to personal, academic, and community library art history collections.
