Yes this story is based on Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice" and sensationalized Utah Latter Day Saint culture. Jane Austen is my hands down favorite author due to her wit, stand on women's right's and her ability to spin a story. This book was witty and well written. The characters were appropriately and well developed. I felt like I knew them. The heroin was an Austen heroin through and through with wit, intelligence and human. The women that are the focus of satire are truely "unbelievable" in the head shaking way that they are meant to be; truely the last one in line for brains that low-life men that lack honor and integrity prey on. Every Austen fan will understand that. The story was so funny at times that I laughed out loud. The words wove a picture in my mind so real that I felt I was there on the hill with them looking out at the Utah stars and really driving the strip in Ogden with the warm summer evening air on my face. I enjoyed this book and have loaned it to friends who have loved it. I will be picking this one for my book club the next time I get to host!! Buy it!! Read it!! And LOVE it!!!
Funny funny!

This book is an updated, Mormon version of Pride and Prejudice. If you're a die-hard Austen fan, you might not want to read this because it doesn't draw faithfully from the plot (like the movie Pride and Prejudice: a Latter-Day Comedy which I love too!) Instead takes certain social issues from the original and parodies the Mormon culture, like the insane mom who doesn't care who her daughters date as long as they get married, loser user guys who womanize, guys thinking all Mormon girls just want a husband, and the richer the better, etc. My favorite is the Mr. Collins character. He's unreal! Way too funny. It's got a fun twist, not too predictable, and a fun Saturday afternoon read.
