Marion's poems feature travel between and across continents, homing in on several years spent in Houston, Texas. Her love of the natural world, particularly along coastlines, comes across vividly. There are also poems which stem from Marion suffering from encephalitis in 2011, which made a significant impact on her own and her family's lives. It was very stressful for an English teacher to lose a wide vocabulary overnight, most significantly names. Family and friends, particularly her husband Michael, gave Marion great support and encouragement to retrieve the most valuable vocabulary. Members of the Louth Writing Group were also inspiring, particularly throughout the Corona Virus episode. Weekly Zoom sessions kept everyone focused on writing, editing, sending off poems and putting together new collections.
Marion gained an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway in 2010, tutored by Andrew Motion and Jo Shapcott. Her poems have appeared in a wide range of magazines, including The North, Iota, Ambit, Dream Catcher and a Cinnamon anthology, along with her first collection 'The Threshold'.
