I bought this cook book when I was a young bride in 1958 (I have a first edition/first printing) and I used it throughout my marriage, and after my husband passed-over . . . I love the recipes that are easy to follow and use. Charles Harper'S illustrations throughout the book are fun and make the book fun to use. This cookbook should be in everyone's kitchen. B Best

My cousin and her husband LOVE Charlie Harper...they even used his artwork for their wedding invitations. When I found out about his illustrations in this cookbook, I was so excited. They LOVED this cookbook. Not only are the illustrations fabulous, the writing makes for a good laugh. The product was in excellent condition, as well.
Good Cookbook for smaller portions

Okay, your kids have flown the coop, or you're happily single, or it's just you and yours...no matter, this book is for you. I've owned and constantly used this book since it was published 30 years ago. Almost every recipe is tasty and EASY to make. The best part is that each recipe serves only 2 (or 1 generously), so you don't have purchase large-volume ingredients or deal with leftovers. The recipes are divided into quick, cheap, multi-meal, comfort food, and special-day meals. Each section comes in handy depending on what you have on hand or can afford each week. I've purchased over 200 cookbooks since buying this 30 years ago, but not many of them get the day to day use that this little dynamo gets. Buy it and keep it handy, you'll be glad you did.
Wore my copy out!

My mom's 1958 edition was used faithfully by her, and passed on to me. It is by far the best cookbook I've read/used...and I read cookbooks frequently. If you can find this book, buy it!
The BEST, most helpful basic cook-book for everyday.

With 100-plus cookbooks in three languages and thousands of clipped recipes, this is the book I use most. For simple pot roast, tomato aspic, and apple pie - the stuff of everyday meals - I search the other books - and find the easy recipe here. In the 1958 edition! With the pages falling out! And everything tastes good. You'll love it, too!
