A MUST read for all ELEMENTARY teachers

Real research by people who know what they are discussing:best reading practices. If you want to be informed, affirmed and do what is needed for all children to succeed...read this book. It provides the reader with practical information for classroom and school use. It is a great book for new teachers and a valuable resource to those 20 plus year teachers like me!

Comprehensive

This book offers step-by-step instruction for hands-on literacy activities, as well as the theory behind each instructional practice. These are first rate authors/researchers in the field of literacy teaching. The book reads like a text book and thus can be used for research writing as well as in the classroom.

Best Practices for Literacy Instruction

Best Practices are lessons for teachers that have proven results. It's a must read for any literacy teacher. It has hands on examples and in depth discussion for any skill level, any grade. I use these lessons teaching ESL in S. Korea with wonderful results.

Best Practices is very informative

The book is well-written and to the point. Each chapter is short. Fast delivery, too.

A must-have

Over the past year, I have purchased a number of professional resources on the topic of literacy instruction, including more well-known books by Patricia Cunningham, Fountas and Pinnell and Tony Stead. This book is the one I turn to most often for straight-forward, research-based information and guidance. Although I'm uncertain as to whether or not it is a requisite resource for teachers in training, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were a staple in universities and colleges. It's not the "lightest" read at times, but it's concise, clear and offers exactly what the title promises.
