Max Carrados, the blind detective was given birth to by Ernest Bramah. Even being blind, Max could tell you almost minute details of a person seeking his help. Sherlock Holmes could do it by just looking at the person but Max had to rely on his inner intuition and most of the time he was correct. Ernest Bramah was born in Manchester, England in 1868. Oddly enough he started out as a farmer, then drifting into journalism. He is believed to have lived in China for awhile as he was also the author of, Kai Lung, a story teller in ancient China. I have not read these tales; I do not know how hard they are to find. The Max carrados tales were mostly written in the 1920's. Aside from this book, I know he has other stories out there but I havent been able to find them. Max Carrados has always intrigued me; b eing able to solve difficult mysteries with no seeing capacity. Some of the tales in this book are:The coin of Dionysius; the Knight's Cross Signal Problem; The mystery of the poisoned Dish of Mushrooms(a very special mystery) and 4-5 others.
