Compiling a book of talks to fit many people is a difficult and challenging task. The individuals who compiled "Best Loved Talks of the LDS People" did a fairly good job. There are 50 talks of past and present LDS Church Leaders, addressing 25 different topics. The book is arranged topically, so you can read all of the talks together that focus on adversity, etc. Some of the talks will be very familiar to LDS readers, and others are more obscure and come from places such as Journal of Discourses. I would recommend this book for any members of the LDS Church who want a book that contains a number of talks about basic LDS doctrines. The doctrines are BASIC, so if you are looking to go indepth into this religion, this may only give you a preliminary taste. For those who are not members, there is no reason why you couldn't read this book. However, I don't know if this is the most helpful book for understanding the LDS religion because it will seem fragmented because each talk is only 10-15 pages. There may be more efficient ways to learn more. I give this four stars because it had some great talks in the book. However, I wonder with access to the internet how many can be found on the internet rather than in the book. Also, I think they may have favored more obscure talks instead of others that may have been just as warranted.
