Best Chunky Cookie Book -- Hands Down

I say best "chunky" cookie book, because this collection doesn't include many delicate items -- and that's fine by me. Chunky cookies rock. As a summer camp baker, I look for recipes that are kid-friendly, and easily expanded to camp proportions. It's always a bonus when the recipes are so well-tested that I don't have to change a thing. And that is what I've found in this book -- every recipe I've tried tastes perfect, and looks just like the photo in the book. An earlier reviewer suggested that this book is just a platform to sell Nestle products, but you will find that in any "brand name" cookbook. Very few companies make a product that can't be replaced by a less-expensive store brand version. As for the awesomely wide range of recipes using canned pumpkin -- terrific! After I make pumpkin pie at camp, I still have half a case of #10-size cans to use; the pumpkin cookie recipes in the book are delicious -- always gobbled up. Ditto for the recipes focusing on condensed milk, coconut, and cranberries. I couldn't recommend this book more highly!

Nestle Toll House Best Ever Cookies

Oh boy is this a dangerous book to have on hand if you are planning on dieting! The cookie recipes in this book just sound delicious - almost every recipe sounds worth baking (I have only made one recipe so far and it came out great). There are a many pictures but they put several cookie pictures on one page, there is not a picture next to each recipe. There is a chapter on brownies, a chapter for christmas cookies, to name a couple - just page after page of mouth-watering cookie recipes using some new twists on old favorites as well as including the traditional favorites. There is also a bunch of recipes for things other than cookies - some pies, breads, etc. I can tell that this is going to become one of those tried and true favorite books that you always refer to when you are looking for that perfect recipe - easy to prepare and always tastes wonderful.

One of the best cookie books around!

It seems natural that the originators of the Toll House cookie, including Ruth Wakefield, would create a great cookie book. The recipes are the kind that you can make for friends, family or just because. My favorite recipes are too numerous to name, but I have found this book to be inspirational and one of the easiest to follow. What's great is it has pictures of each cookie so that you can make sure you made it just right. This will be one of your favorites on your shelf definitely!

Excellent recipes for gifts

I love to bake cookies and have won blue ribbons at the Del Mar Fair here in San Diego. There are many new recipes in this book to try and new ideas for Christmas gifts. I make cookie jars and fill them for gifts. The pictures are great and the recipes easy to follow. Perhaps with all these new recipes I will find a good entry for the fair. I look forward to trying many of the recipes.

Wide range of yummy stuff!!!

This is an excellent cookbook!! Not only does it have many terrific cookie recipes, but it is full of wonderful desserts and quick breads. In fact, the only thing wrong with this book is the title, because it is NOT simply a cookie collection. There are pies, bars and cheesecakes and surprisingly a lot of recipes using pumpkin (I guess Nestle owns Libby's...)This book is quite a resource!
