It may be shorter to list the bad things that have not happened to Lauren Roche, but she has had an incredibly wild ride, from abused child to stripper, to prostitute, stowaway, rape victim, suicide attempter, the victim of partner abuse, a mother and latterly a doctor. Yet the tenacity she has demonstrated is quite inspiring. It is also well written and fast paced, not dwelling for too long on subjects, but running towards the next adventure. Definitely worth a read - and when you have, also buy a copy of Life On The Line - the sequel, where you find out that being a doctor isn't just a happy ending by any means. It could not be published as part of this book as it spoke of a Court case which was in progress and could have prejudiced the case, but it is a good continuation from Bent Not Broken.
