Belong to the Night

Really liked this anthology. All the stories are good. I bought it especially because I love Shelly Laurenston, but also ended up adding Cynthia Eden to my must read author list.

Multiauthor anthology

Multiauthor anthology - one outstanding, one good, and one OK read. The Wolf, The Witch, and Her Lack of Wardrobe by Shelly Laurenston: This is directly connected to her The Long Island Coven series [Sun, Sand, Sex Anthology-"My Kind of Town"] and indirectly to her Pack and Pride books. It is hysterically funny and the hero brings ambling to the level of art. Somehow you never think of Pack Alphas as amblers... Rating 5 "In the Dark" by Cynthia Eden: shifter and vampire FBI agents go after a shifter serial killer. Heroine walks into a bar and sees her dead lover making time with a redhead and tries to kill him. He bites her and figures out she's a shifter - and therefore capable of dealing with what he has [unwillingly] become. Rating 4 "City of the Dead" by Sherrill Quinn: an OK read but not much more - rather predictable and frankly [IMO], lots of steamy sex but not much plot. Rating 3

superb three urban fantasy police procedural romances

The Wolf, the Witch and Her Lack of Wardrobe" by Shelly Laurenston. In Smithville, Jamie struggles with controlling her bewitching paranormal skills. Wolfshifter Sheriff Tully knows Jamie has him bewitched. When they team up to fight a rogue pack, both has trouble focusing on the invaders. "In the Dark" by Cynthia Eden. In Miami leopard-shifting FBI agent Sadie finds that her ex-lover Liam isn't dead, but he is not what one would say is alive except in a lower extremity. They team up to go after a serial killing leopard-shifter, but both have trouble focusing on the predator. "City of the Dead" by Sherrill Quinn. In New Orleans, witch Dori and vampire Sabin seek her missing brother and to obtain the stolen powerful the Eye of Bastet amulet. Cajun cop Jake assists them in preventing a demon from witch genocide on All Hallows Eve. These three urban fantasy police procedural romances are superb fun due to a strong cast (especially the good guys and gals) who make the paranormal seem genuine. Harriet Klausner

Shelly Laurenston

I bought this book for the Shelly Laurenston story and was not disappointed. Her "easy-reading" style of writing, humor, lovable characters and strong heroines are exemplified in her story. This story expands the story of the witch coven watching over the Smithville shifter town. It focuses on the coven's leader, Jamie, and the mayor of the town, Tully Smith. I read her story in one sitting and enjoyed it very much. For Laurenston fans, I highly recommend this one. The other two story (one by Cynthia Eden and the other by Sherrill Quinn), I couldn't really get into since I don't follow those authors. I did read them and though I could follow the story lines, I think it would have been better if I had read previous stories in their series. The stories are well-written though.

RECOMMENDED READ FROM TWOLIPSREVIEWS.COM

Werewolves, witches, FBI panther shifters, and vampires await you in the pages of Belong to the Night. First Shelly Laurenston introduces you to the Smithville werewolf pack in The Wolf, The Witch, and Her Lack of Wardrobe. Jamie is a witch in search of power. She wants to protect her coven and power is the way, however, the journey to power is killing her. Tully is the local alpha and sheriff in Smithville. He is trying to protect Jamie from herself, but she is not making the job any easier and falling in love is complicating the matters more! Then Cynthia Eden will charm you with In the Dark were you meet an FBI werepanther named Sadie and her long lost dead lover Liam. Now that Liam is back from the dead, things are really heating up! Especially when Liam's secret involves getting his old lover Sadie back! In Sherrill Quinn's City of the Dead you meet Jake and Dori. They are two steamy lovers you have to meet, they are special and in search of a demon. When love and demon hunting combine you get chemistry off the charts! The three stories of Belong to the Night are all very powerful compelling reads. I personally loved Cynthia Eden's In the Dark the best. I have a thing for loveable vampires and Liam really fits the bill. Though he does get his bum kicked, Sadie is one tough little panther! Don't mess with her! When you want action adventure, love lost and love found you want Belong to the Night. This novel will make you want more of the creatures that go bump in the night and the mates that love them.
