Now in paperback, a lively tale about a sassy, food-loving Southern gal who moves to New York City to become a jour- nalist--"think Scarlett O'Hara, and, dare we say it, maybe just a hint of Rachael... This description may be from another edition of this product.
If you loved the Devil Wears Prada, Sex in the City, or Something Borrowed you will love this book. It's sassy and it's the classic tale of country girl goes to the Big Apple to make it big. Plus there are some really neat recipes in this book. There is a "glam girl" salad recipe that I made for my girlfriends for lunch. Fabulous! It's a cookbook and a really good story in one. What a great idea!
Just Bought This

I just bought this for my wife's b-day because she has a great sense of humor and the dating stories are hilarious. Plus, my wife loves the South so I think she'll get a kick out of Belle and her Mama. I haven't had a chance to try out any of the recipes, but they look great. Maybe I'll get brave and make one for the b-day dinner. Overall, I recommend this book.

Everything Came to a Stop When I Began Reading Belle in the Big Apple

"My house work had to wait as I couldn't put Belle in the Big Apple down long enough to accomplish anything. As I read, I kept imagining the book played out on the big screen, wondering who would play each character. Each character has such life--I feel like they're sitting with me on the couch as I turn each page! And the recipes! My mouth is watering as I write out my grocery list. I can't wait to prepare some of the book's wonderful recipes. Ms. Parkhurst is a refreshing, new voice on the scene. I can't wait to read her next book."

This was such an enjoyable book to read. It is quick and fun as well, with a lot of good recipes. The story involves young Belle's journey from Mobile, Alabama to New York City and her job at a right wing conservative news channel. It is here that her own political views begin to take form and what results is a delightful story. Along the way she loves to cook and shares her recipes with you. No matter what your side of the fence is in the political arena, this is a fun book to read, and you can't beat the 32 recipes you get along the way.
