HOLY SMOKE

If you think church and religion is onoy yells, bells and holy smoke, this is a book for you. An engaging and tightly written introduction to the Creed and the concept of a triune God. Original and stimulating, the writing brings freshness and life and understanding to words that are so often repeated by rote. Read, mark, learn and inwardly digest and you will be pressed to tame "chaos by loving order, conflict by tranquility, discord by harmony." What scripture says at great length, the creed says briefly. Nicholas Lash's imaginative classic is a marvellously subtle and hiddenly learned exposition of the Apostle's Creed. Like Pope Benedict, Lash is a warm and original teacher who makes clear the presence of the mystery of God in the world. A most rewarding read. Indispensable.
