Great Novel

This is one great novel of the west. Right from the start I wanted to ride with the Kerrys to keep their ranch. The writing is superb. A quick sample "Even the odor of burned cow flesh from the branding arrived like an old friend seeking to encourage him." If anyone knows that smell, or even understands that it's quite an odor, they'll realize just how much Ethan Kerry loves the ranch he's built, and what he'll do to keep it. Even if he is blind. Would make a fantastic movie!I hope there is going to be a sequel. Has to be a sequel.

Behold a great book!

When will this story be made into a movie? It's just a fun, exciting read. Fantastic characters. Moving storyline. Well-paced action. Will there be a sequel?

A Classic

I was hooked from the first page on. Cotton Smith's characters just seem to really live and breath. They stay with you. It would be a rare person who wouldn't read Behold a Red Horse and be unchanged by it. The challenges of the three Kerry brothers should be made into a movie. And real soon! I've read all three of Cotton Smith's books -- and each one becomes my favorite. But Behold a Red Horse is truly a classic.

His best work yet!

I've read all of Cotton Smith's books (and loved them), but this one is by far my favorite. I was hooked from the first page! His descriptions and attention to detail make the story come alive. I was so engrossed with the mental anguish of the three brothers as they dealt with their brother's blindness. This has to rank with the best westerns of all time -- Shane, Lonesome Dove, Hondo, High Noon -- put Behold A Red Horse on the same list. Cotton, I eagerly await your next novel!

Couldn't Put It Down!

Prediction: Behold a Red Horse will rank among the best western novels of all time. The three brothers are memorable -- and so are all the other characters in the book. I couldn't put it down and plan to reread it next week. I feel like they are family!
