An Invaluable Resource for Reflective Practitioners

As teachers we are bombarded with the latest research, the newest fad, and unending staff development. More often than not, the vitally important missing piece to all of them is the answer to the question "How can I use this in my classroom?" This book takes the best of the latest innovations and shows the reader how to transform it into practice. If you are looking for a quick-fix, however, this is not the book for you. The author tells the reader up-front that redesigning the curriculum for a class will take 5-7 years, recognizing that most teachers don't have extended blocks of time other than the summer to work on curriculum. However, the ideas are presented in such a way that for most teachers the work will be a matter of fine-tuning, rather than building from scratch. (I suspect that most teachers are already doing some of the things described in the book anyway.)The ideas in this book will take your teaching to a new level.
