Through my brother, I learned about our distant cousin, Nora. After contacting her she informed me she was an author. She mailed me a copy of The Beckoning, Onion Avenue, Miss Merry, and her cookbook, Cook Less (Enjoy It More). The Beckoning is a story about two young people falling in love, marrying, raising a family, but dying young; leaving many children behind. The young woman is Nora and my great,great-grandmother. Because Nora had more information on the young man's background, some of her information on the young woman's background is fictional. My brother and I have been able to give her the information needed that would have helped in the writing of her book. The story exemplifies the hardships that every American's ancestors endured when this great country was young and pioneers were optimistic. The book is a "must read" for anyone interested in early American pioneer life!
