if you have any soul at all it will be rocked about royally

when i write, i wish it could be half as good as this. her words are so incredible. every line sparks you to the core - unless you are dead. maybe even dead people would get something out of it. it's that good.

Wordsmith hits home!

Ms.Richman's use of words created a visual that thrilled me to my core. Her choice of words was exacting but not high browed. I found that each line gave me goose bumps, I was stunned by her choice of expression. Definately worth reading by anyone - not just those already in love with poetry. I look forward to her next effort.

some of the greatest poems i'v read

this collection of poems is my favorite yet. each and every one of them is full of character and has great meaning. i definitely recommend this book.

important moving poetry for generation X

Winner of the 1994 Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American poets, Robert Pinksey, judge for that year, praised Richman for her "rowdy, restless intelligence." These poems embrace her youth, the death of her mother and struggles to become herself into young adulthood haunted the freedoms and terrors of seeking intimacy. Her language is contemporary, fresh natural cant of the streets and psychotherapist's couch. It is tough and cynical, frank and descriptive, ever energetic but always more than its surface: vulnerable. sensitive, caring, nurturing sad and anxious. Richman is a poet to keep an eye on. Generation X has a savvy spokesperson here
