What are we allowing our daughters to become? Tween-esteem defined...

As a father of a nine year old girl, I am indeed touched that Debra has the courage to take on the "role models" that our society has somehow come to embrace, admire and even worse, accept. She has replacing these tenets with a message that should truly be the guiding force of our daughters' lives. How we have gotten to this level of sociological complacency and distorted values bewilders me, but Debra's book (more to come, I'm sure!) is invaluable in putting things back in perspective in a way that our girls can truly comprehend and appreciate. I read this book with my daugher, age 11, several times. She told me she tried the visualization technique offered at the end of the story, and it helped her to deal with the day easier and with more confidence. As a mother, a social worker in the schools, and a female in this society, I really appreciate Debra Gano's message presented with warmth and sweetness.
