Classical Tale with Drawings (AT425C)

In 1740, Madame Gabrielle de Villenuve wrote a story in the changing tradition of oral tales in print. Yet, it had no paintings or sketches to tell the story. So, in 1756, a simpler version appeared in print. This is that story. Notice that the story does not involve the gods even though there is enchantment and ideas about royalty is changing too. It is not as extreme as "Life in London" (1821) by Pierce Egan or "The Marriage of Figaro" by Beaumarchais (1780). Yet, the Beauty teaches the Beast something important as we find her life too is not perfect. Beauty and the Beast is a story to enjoy, to study, and then to enjoy with great pleasure as we see our lives are not too perfect. Yet, it can be better if we try, together.
