A very funny book about the vietnam war

Admittedly, some of the stories contained in "Very Crazy G.I." are strange, some even incredible. But the whole collection of short stories almost oozes red dust and dense jungle. Sometimes touching on LRRP and Special Forces themes, at other times delving into pure myth. Make no mistake: This book is hysterically funny, from a military advisor teams field trip with reluctant ARVN troops, to the story about an R & R trip to Thailand. Spanning most of the war and a wide variety of themes, it's a smashing read! As diverse in origin as the subtitle: Beaucoup dien cai dau.

Kregg does it again

I think that this a very god book, a series of short stories about the vietnam war, one or two off them are perhaps " non-confirme-able", but who cares, just as long as it is a good storie.I wery much enjoyed the R-R storie to Thailand; revenge is to be enjoyed cold. Also the story about marine SGT Henderson, that died and diden'tsend chills up and down my spine.Kregg has a way with frases and words, especialy his funny and self-ironic way of decribing himself and his conversion with all those who contributed stories to his book, he is very much theWiseguy he always describes himself as.I can highly recommend this book to anyone.Keep up the good work !!

the perspective of a non-Vietnam war veteran

From the point of view of one person who never served in Vietnam, Kregg P.J. Jorgenson`s VERY CRAZY G.I. is a great book. It is highly readable and very entertaining. The book makes you feel like you are a Vietnam War soldier yourself, wearing the very clothes (or: in the chapter on visits to brothels, not wearing any clothes at all) that the G.I.s did. I would highly recommend this book.

SE Asia Stranger Than Fiction

Every vet has "war stories" to tell, and Kregg has put together a fine collection of unique first-person experiences from Vietnam. Reading this book brings to the reader a full spectrum of emotions as Jorgenson shares some truly unique narratives from that conflict. Some of the stories are hysterically funny, some are heartbreaking , and a couple are downright scary. It's a good read, and I'm looking forward to the next volume.

Another hit by Jorgenson

Having read hundreds of titles on military history, not to mention everyone of Kregg Jorgenson's works - I must say he has another hit on his hands. Jorgeson has taken me along with him to Vietnam on numerous occassion, but this journey was a kind of Twilight Zone meets the Outer Limits meets the Howard Stern show. I enjoyed every story and hold a couple as favorites, especially, the "alleged Green Beret story." I've also read enough military nonfiction to know there are plenty more stories for Jorgenson to follow up with a second volume of VERY CRAZY, GI. Keep writing Mr. Jorgenson and I'll keep buying!
