Beatrice is a Painted Lady Butterfly, also called a Vanessa cardui. She wasn't always a butterfly, though. She started out as an egg, and then became a larva. Later, she went into her metamorphosis as a pupa. Finally, she became a butterfly. Although her body changes shape and size, she is always the same Beatrice on the inside.Beatrice's story can be a metaphor for the changes your child experiences as their body grows. Even though they're changing shape and size, they are still the same on the inside.
