This is a valuable book for anyone who teacher reading.

This book is really terrific if you are a classroom teacher (grades one to three) or a reading teacher. I loved Miss Einstein's suggestions for assessing the reading skills of young children; they are practical and effective. Also, the way she describes phonics instruction, even as part of a whole language program, is very informative and useful - you will be able to buy this book and start using the ideas on Monday morning. The Resource Section is great, especially the guide to Children't Literature. There are also sections on Professional Books, Teaching Tools, Games, and Technology. I am a reading teacher who bought this book last summer. It pulled together a lot of ideas for me, and I used it as a guide throughout the school year. I'm recommending it to everyone I know who teaches young children. (My students loved it, too!)
