I got happier the day I stopped sitting around waiting for clients to call me, and dropped the fear that I had to take any client that came in my door. So what helped me? Casey Truffo! Her book is a perfect blend of coaching strategies, life experience, and, most importantly, no-nonsense ideas that work. "Be a Wealthy Therapist" will really help you build a successful and wealthy private practice, whether you are a psychologist, counselor or any mental health professional. More importantly, Casey's book will also alleviate the fear and deficiency feelings that accompany not having "enough" - whether that's clients, income, marketing experience or business self-esteem. Ms. Truffo has been down all the troubled private practice roads that I have been down - and more. She has been able to language her experiences in a way that you will connect to directly if you read her book. She is savvy about all aspects of the private practice - from fail safe networking strategies, to the psychology of your money issues, to the latest technology advances that you need to thrive in 21st Century practice building. It's really all in there. Casey understands what works to get the clients, and if you read the book and work the program, you'll see the results. Trust me. After reading the book and taking her four-day workshop, I signed up 11 new clients from my new full-fee rate, and am growing my counseling practice astronomically quicker by going with her strategies. It's better than feeling lost and sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Graduate school never failed me more than now! After reading "Be a Wealthy Therapist," I don't know how these strategies haven't found there way into the curriculum of counseling programs across the country. After reading this book, I'm glad I found Casey when I did, and recommend that you do the same. Unless you enjoy watching your phone and your watch. Get the book!
Wonderful book

I have read just about every book on marketing a practice. Casey Truffo's book is the easiest to read and to apply. She answers the questions that many of us therapists have -- but, didn't ask for fear of being seen as money grubbers. How to communicate the value of therapy as well as value ourselves is addressed in this book. She also writes scripts for us introverts. I would recommend that this book be used in graduate schools. The almost burned out therapist who is tired of managed care paperwork can greatly benefit from this book. Casey's enthusiasm for the profession is contagious!
Practical advice with an underlying structure

Be a Wealthy Therapist is a funny title for a serious book, but it makes a point. Casey has worked for her entire career to support the value of psychotherapy to the client and to promote the self respect of the therapist. She truly believes in the importance of therapy, and she understand that a therapist chooses this career because of a dedication to helping people be happier, more successful, and more effective. Still, if a therapist is going to be able to make a living doing what he or she loves to do, then that therapist eventually needs to learn good business practices and ethical marketing techniques. Casey shows therapists how to be successful in private practice while sticking with the values that brought them into a helping profession. This book is straightforward, easy to read, and filled with suggestions that can be implemented in a variety of ways. You will find ideas that are useful to you and consonant with your goals and values. Using those which make the most sense for you, you can put together a business model for your practice that will feel comfortable and at the same time help you build a successful, satisfying private practice.
"THE" Book for Practice-Building for Therapists and Other Healers
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
If you're looking for "THE" book to help build your therapy or other healing arts practitioner private practice, this book is it! I took Casey's one-day seminar a couple of years ago, and it was so helpful and effective that as soon as this book became available, I bought one of the first copies. Casey's experience learning what works -- and even what doesn't work -- in building a practice becomes the basis of her wisdom that she shares with us. All the big questions therapists face like how to build a practice when you're just starting out, how to avoid the awful nightmare of working with the American "health insurance" system, and how to learn to appreciate your worth and value as a professional are included here. As a therapist/coach, I think the most important question a teacher/mentor can ever answer is HOW. HOW do you build a practice? How do you explain why you don't take insurance to a client? How do you talk to a client for the first time in a way that results in them making an appointment with you? How do you gracefully decline the kind of client whom you don't want to work with? How do you decide how to spend your marketing dollars? How do you learn to be a healer AND a business person at the same time? How do you show compassion and earn a good (great!) living at the same time? Casey answers all of these questions and more. I suppose the reason why I sing her praises so much is because I love my career, my clients, and my lifestyle, and if I didn't earn a good living, I couldn't do any of it. Casey helps teach techniques that I have found in my true-life experience work, and work BEAUTIFULLY. As the AA saying goes about their program, "It works if you work it." The same could be true of this material; it works IF YOU WORK IT. Casey's blend of frank information combined with compassion and support help therapists to be successful and to be at their best. I think she earns a great living, and you know what, she deserves every penny of it for how much she helps all of US to make a great living too. I've also been a member of her Exclusive Members program for a while now, with monthly Q & A calls and other coaching services, and they are valuable and recommended as well if you visit www.beawealthytherapist.com. Your investment in this book and her other programs certainly pay for themselves quickly when you see your practice grow and evolve. How to sum up? Three letters: "GBC" - GOD BLESS CASEY!! (And no, I don't get a commission from her for saying that. I'm just very grateful to say I make all the money I need by using Casey's techniques. :))
