Explosive Wizard Bastard

Good stuff, now if only they'd translate the rest of this series.

Venom!

I'm a recent convert to the manga genre so I have been a litle picky about what I buy but I couldn't resist Bastard! I have the amime and really enjoyed it.That being said I was glad to see that the anime had not strayed to far from the manga, and I was able to enjoy Dark Schneider again this time in print. If you know nothing about Bastard then let me introduce you to the rock and roll post apocaylpse world where the only thing standing between the forces of evil and the good people of Metallicana is the former leader of the evil forces? Enter Dark Schneider a wizard of enormous power and only one control switch a young girl named Yoko. So let the fun begin as we watch Dark Schneider defeat wizards, save the girl and stay true to himself. Of note however, is that this is a fun and action packed shonen manga that does show women as " sex objects". So if you have a hang up about that this is not the manga for you.On the opposite side of the coin if you are open to the possibilities and think that Dark Schneider is a "cutie" then this is a good read. There is only one other detractor from this manga by Kazushi Hagiwara for me and that is there is a litle too much background filler in the scenes that tends to make it a little dificult to read at first but still an over all excelent manga for your collection.

Another in the series hits the bookshelves

Bastard! is a very interesting series, filled with strange characters. Dark Schneider is one of the most unconventional heroes out there; Tia No Yoko is made of sterner stuff than even D.S; and Princess Sheila doesn't take any crap from anybody. They are all endearing in their own way, and really help to move the story along. The spells and the countries are named after American rock n' roll bands and some of their songs, which is quite unique and kinda funny.

Definitely one of the more interesting series I own...

I got the first volume just a week or two ago, and had to have the second volume as soon as possible! This is a wonderful series, and very creative. Especially the use of hard rock band names as spells is inventive. The characters are well-drawn and even more well-written. It is hard to dislike Dark Schneider, although Lucien is a little to soft and waffly for my tastes. Yoko knows what she wants and (even more importantly) how to keep D.S. in line. Princess Sheila is not one of those cliched "oh please save me! I'm so fragile and delicate!" types, either. All in all, an excellent book.

The ultimate in RPG and rock and roll parodies!

I love this series! The author is very creative--to use rock n' roll band names and song titles as the names in the story is great! The back of the book says that "If this were a movie, you'd have been blasted through the wall just by the music. This is loud, head-banging fun!" Well, I happen to agree! So, pick up your copy today! I doubt you'll be disappointed!
