After much debate and the reading of this book I was convinced that the Basset Hound was exactly the dog I needed. I recommend this book to anyone interested (or just merely curious) in learning more about Bassets. I will say, however, that no book can prepare you for the both the joy and (if I may be honest) frustration that a Basset can bring to you and your family! I wouldn't change Chloe (my Basset Hound) for the world!

I thought that this book was very useful. I have had many breeds during my lifetime, but had never had the joy of sharing it with a Basset Hound. This book provided me with alot of information about the breed, so much that I had to read it twice. It also prepares you for most events that you will experience from the time he is a puppy (including all the bad times). It is a must for any Basset Hound lover.
A must read for dog lovers and Basset Hound Owners!

I thought this book was great because it was very informative and wasn't dry in thee way the information was presented.

Barbara Wicklund's Book on The Basset Hound : An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet Series), is an excellent beginners guide to Basset Hound ownership and general dog care. The text is very informative and even provides the reader with information on dog training, pet therapy and more. The pictures are wonderful and old and young alike can learn from what is presented throughout. I highly recommend it for new basset hound owners and especially children who want to take more of a responsibility with the family pet.
