Talley, David Basic Carrier Telephony Rider Publications #259 published 1960 You will be interested in this book if you: o Want to learn about an historically important technology; o Want to learn about analogue, circuit switched telephony basics; o Have a background in audio or telephony but no radio background. This is not suitable for anyone who: o wants to learn about modern techniques; o has no background in electronics. Carrier telephony systems are still in place in many parts of the world in either open-wire lines or microwave bearers, but in most industrial nations these have long been replaced by digital transmissions over optical fibre or satellite links, so this is not cutting-edge technology. There are still applications for this analogue technique outside conventional telephony and this book may be useful if you have to work with these, for example railway companies may still be using this technology. The writer takes you through all aspects of the technology providing circuit diagrams, block diagrams and clear explanations. Some mathematics is required - high school algebra is sufficient. The writer also gives a clear explanation of many aspects of telephony over twisted pairs with circuit switching.
