The flow of the story is quite smooth and engaging

Sindy Mckay's Baseball Fever is uniquely designed for shared reading. The bright illustrations by Meredith Johnson enhance an engaging story about an African-American boy who must deal with the frustration of getting sick right before he can pitch in a big baseball game is structured so that each two-page spread has a page for the parent to read on the left, and a page for the child to read on the right. The child's page is significantly shorter and easier to read aloud than the parent's page, yet the flow of the story is quite smooth and engaging.
