I have a class set of this book to read with 4th and 5th grade students and they love it! It is so much more fun than reading from a dry textbook. I disagree with the last reviewer -- he or she has obviously not seen a Social Studies textbook in a very long time! The American Horrible Histories, while nowhere near as funny as Terry Deary's British ones, are still great for kids to learn history. They're just not silly, gross-out books (qualities which are characteristic of Deary's more enjoyable volumes), which means they're not as much fun for adults. But I'd say...
