I myself am not a runner but do enjoy a good read and have always been perplexed by the wonder that is the Cooper River Bridge Run. (If I were ever so strangely compelled to run 6.2 miles it wouldn't be over those two peaks. I mean, this is the Low Country). To my surprise, the bridge run, in the world of Jonathan Sanchez, is full of irony and romance, humor and ex-psychiatric patients. I read the whole book in one afternoon -- and not just because it was an easy read. I really love "Shane", the hopelessly redneck, fumblingly charming construction worker/ crane operator. Classic, but like nothing I have ever read before.
