I love this book, and my nieces do too!

It runs through a text of a standard day visiting grandpa - but something is a little odd. The text never describes any aspect of the house, but oh boy, the illustrations sure do. Is it the tiger being fed in a highchair? The dog playing a card game with them (all the cards are the 8 of hearts, and grandpa cheats, which is probably how he always wins)? The cowboys in the living room? Every page is full, simply full of tiny details and big details that are strange, unusual, or just a little weird. Every time I open this book, the nieces (5 and 2.5) fall all over themselves to find something new to point out as silly. We haven't found everything yet, and we've had this book a few weeks now! Naturally, of course, the thing that's "wrong" to our protagonist is something mindnumbingly banal - her grandfather put on the wrong socks this morning! Silly grandpa!

A Great Book for Fun and Education! A review of "Bamboozled"

Arggh. Another great book that is hard to get a-hold of. What gives?!? This is a great, fun book that both my kindergartener and I love. [My three year-old finds the pictures disturbing as they do not correspond to `reality'. It's a stage-lol]. In any case, this book is really silly and fun and has allowed both my daughter and I to improve our observational skills. Indeed, as other reviewers have said, there are many visual illusions and allusions. (Many of the pages refer to popular and classical artwork. A chance for me to show my daughter the originals.) Five Stars. It's a treasure. Kindergarteners and older children will like the silliness. Mom's and other caregivers will like that kids get to practice paying attention to detail.

Bamboozled holds the magic of childhood.

A child sees the magic that is inherent in all things. Children don't know what CAN'T happen, so they look at table legs and wonder where the feet are. Why can't you drive a sofa? Legge captures all the possibilities in his artwork and ties it together from the perspective of a little girl. Bamboozled is a great book.

A treasure trove of surprises.

When a young girl visits her grandfather, living in a totally bamboozled house, you can expect clever pictures to go along with a humourous story. Author and illustrator David Legge fulfilled these expectations. When he visited our school in September, it was very interesting to learn of the inspiration behind the book. 10 out of 10 for a great book.

The 10 points are for the pictures!

This title was given to my 6 year old son: it is one amazing picture book. Every time we read it I find something I missed. The pictures are wonderfully surreal, colourful and complex; they can repay literally hours of study. The text is easy enough for him to read, which gives him a great sense of achievement. This is one of the books parents won't mind reading over and over
