Are you sure this was a tell all or his side to this twisted story?

If this was Jonathan's version of his relationship with Terry, then I think his story was lacking completely. This story seemed like a work of fiction, with all the drama and deceit that took place in the novel. I would hate to believe that one of my favorite authors, Terry McMillan, was so shallow and evil. However, I do know a woman scorned can be really dangerous. I also have a hard time believing that one sexual encounter would be the pivotal moment that would change a straight man into being gay. I am sure these feelings were longed lived and calculated in real life. This was another part that made the story less believable. The book was kind of slow in the beginning; the author did a very good job with painting a clear picture of his characters and the scenery. The descriptions were very vivid and rich. The ending, however, needed more closure to me. Again, I don't really see this book as Jonathan's side of the story it was too rushed and very one sided. All in all it was a decent read I am the author of My Eyes Are Green and really benefited from all the vivid descriptions. I recommend this book to someone who likes scandal and vindication. There were a lot of tricks you could pick up on a love that went sour and you're looking to seek revenge.

Heidi Elliott loves being a mom. Six-month-old Nora is an angel of a baby, and though, sure, life is a little topsy-turvy now that a third member has been added to the family, she and hubby Jake are taking it in stride. Everything's all set for her return to the job, too--daycare lined up, lesson plans ready for her high school Spanish class, clothes almost fit... normal stuff for a woman getting ready to go off maternity leave. But life for Heidi's about to get a whole lot more complicated. As if it isn't enough to be worrying about her baby all day when she's supposed to be teaching, to top it off she has a score of other concerns, too: her ex-boyfriend's back in town and wants to use her and baby Nora as models in a new photographic essay he's working on, her husband's been spending an awful lot of time with a model-esque client, she manages to alienate her best friend, and, oh yeah, her boss gets a mite upset when she has to leave work early to take care of her sick little girl. Why isn't the world made for working moms? Others can pull it off, though, so surely Heidi can too--and without the help of that meddling Mom's Group her husband insisted she go to. Who wants to associate with a bunch of Bible-thumping self-righteous types, anyway? Balancing Act is a witty novel of the new mom-lit genre, one that appeals especially to young moms and will be enjoyed by any woman with children or who might even consider having them someday. Through the eyes of Heidi the reader is taken through the tempest of some everyday trials and some truly extraordinary ones. In the space of a few months Heidi faces a workplace that isn't understanding, a marriage on the rocks, and a spiritual crisis as her Mom's Group friend, Willow, challenges her to trust in the Lord rather than herself. A lot of the book is pure wit, funny and clever. But through the laughter you'll still feel the shadow of doubt plaguing Heidi, the uncertainty and desperation facing this woman who only wants to be it all: teacher, wife, mother, and friend. She doesn't think doing that perfectly is too much to ask, but when it all starts crumbling around her, Heidi has to learn to lean on others. Stuart deals with hard-hitting issues that face mothers of all ages, and the result is a book that I could identify with, even if I haven't encountered a lot of Heidi's problems myself. It took a while for the faith-message to come out, since the heroine isn't very interested in God until she hits rock-bottom near the end, but we do get to hear some spiritual wisdom from Willow throughout, and by the conclusion most of the characters are talking about faith. Overall, Balancing Act is a wonderful balance between light humor and hard reality. If you're looking for a book that will at once make you laugh and touch your deepest heart, this is a great choice.

WHOA! This is hot!!!

I was expecting a tell-all. But I got was so much better. I need to know what happens next with Tasha and Jonathan and Ann! I hope there is a Book 2.

An Extraordinary Coming Out Story--A Must Read!!!!!!!

Jonathan Plummer and Karen Hunter have an extraordinary achievement on their hands!!!! The reader is taken on one hell of a journey "out" from rural Jamaica to the upper echelon's of the modeling world! Supermodel Justin Blakeman discovers he has an eye for another kind of beauty -- a beauty similar to his own -- and all Hell breaks loose, courtesy of Tasha Reynolds, the model agency mogul who discovered him in Jamaica. Justin is almost devoured by Tasha's fantasy for his life, until he follows his own truth and light. This is a very powerful novel--fiction with a PURPOSE! Kudos to Jonathan Plummer and Karen Hunter. More please!!

A Great Read---With a Lesson

This is a great, quick read. The characters are interesting. The plot has many twists and turns. It is at times funny, thought-provoking, and lusty. I couldn't put it down! "Balancing Act" also teaches a lesson, underneath the Jamaican sun. This is, basically, a story of two people who use each other, for their own ends. They think they are "in love," but they are not. If you don't know what "love" is, then you are in for a big disappointment, as this book shows. Many make this mistake: Sugar-cane pickers, fashion designers, accountants, best-selling authors.... I highly recommend this book. Read it!
