TURN ON. TUNE IN. DROP DEAD.

If you're just joining us, welcome to radio station WVMP, "The Lifeblood of Rock'n'Roll." Con-artist-turned-station-owner Ciara Griffin manages an on-air staff of off-the-wall DJs -- including her new boyfriend Shane McAllister -- who really sink their teeth into the music of their "Life Time" (the era in which they became vampires). It's Ciara's job to keep the undead rocking, the ratings rolling,...

BAD TO THE BONE

Its one of those series that just improves with each sequal. Jeri Smith Ready does it again as con artist turn station owner Ciara Griffin deals pre Halloween parties, fire bombs attacks and pirate radios made to knock them off the air. That's all in the first chapter of the book. WVMP Halloween will never be the same as Ciara learns of the existence of vampire dogs and loses her apartment allowing her and Shawn talk about moving in together. As in Wicked Games we have more dealing with Control and while visiting his father's grave Shawn runs into his mother and sister who hadn't seen him since he was turned. His plans to visit them for Christmas can cause nothing but problems for him and his family from Control's detachment group. To make things worst a reporter from Rolling Stones Magazine wants the real scoop on the vampire station. Finally all of Shane talk to Ciara about finding a middle ground between not becoming something he's not and staying current reminds me of Shaggy Rogers from Scooby Doo. While the rest of Mystery Inc has been update for 21st century Shaggy still dresses and uses slang from 1969 yet he can use a cell phone, microwave and stays current with other modern techology and activities. Its sure to be a New Year to remember.

Fun and fast read with a unique vamp twist

This book, the second in a series, is even better than the first--which rocked! And when I say it rocked, I mean it rocked and rolled, since the books are set in a radio station. Of course, the station is full of unusual DJ's--they're all vampires who only play music from the era in which they last lived. This is a great new twist on the tired old vampire novel, and main character Ciera is likable and fun. This is one of the fastest reads I've seen in a while, and I was really sorry when it was over. And there was an extra bit at the end I never expected...always a fun surprise!

Glad to have Ciara Griffin back!

A highly recommended urban fantasy/ paranormal book! Like the first novel in the series, the narrative rocks along. The author has thoughtfully created this world (right down to a playlist) and these characters aren't caricatures --- it is a delight to spend time with them. Looking forward to more of the series.

lampoons urban fantasy

In Maryland Ciara Griffin pretends to be the late owner Elizabeth of the vampire run radio station WVMP so she and her cohorts of vamps can keep working. In spite of the difficulty of the masquerade, Ciara feels upbeat as things are going well with her significant other vampire. However, their special Halloween show is devastated by the Family Action Network (FAN) who steals their signal broadcasting an anti-vampire tirade. Irate Ciara and her cohorts including Dexter the vampire canine sneak into the FAN base of operations to bring the bite to the enemy. The sequel to the brilliantly wacky WICKED GAME still has the vampires remain stuck in a time warp leading to quite a variety in the music played at WVMP, the "lifeblood of rock and roll". Ciara, though claiming she is a reformed con artist, is pulling off quite a sham pretending to be the dead owner. Amusing and as wacky as its predecessor, this time the vamps with a blood thirsty canine are at war with their FAN enemy as Jeri Smith-Ready lampoons urban fantasy taking a humorous bite out of the sub-genre. Vampires, music and drama....

I can barely put it down but I had to stop reading to give it a 5 star review! Excellent novel - one that I will be up late reading and re-reading cover to cover.
