Four teenagers experience terrifying and unexpected difficulties on a camping trip at Yosemite National Park. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I really wanted to like this book. It has a mysterious synopsis and seems quite creepy. The epilogue promises mysteries will come. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the dialogue. But, I'm not the audience this book was intended for. I am a woman in my 30s, a librarian looking for books for students. This book was clearly written for young adults, particularly teenage boys.
There was a lot of dialogue in this book. It often felt like there was more talking than action. Much of it realistic, I understand, but I felt there was too much disrespectful banter of women. When Ellie shows up at the airport, all the boys are making remarks on her looks. Even flipping through the book, it seemed like I was constantly seeing remarks about women. The characters are teenage boys, so perhaps it just wasn't the book for me because I'm not it's intended audience. It also seemed like the main character Colin was a bit obsessed with Ceo. He explained often and in detail about certain women not being up to ceo's standards.
But I did enjoy the plot and other than the dialogue issue, I liked the writing. The book was an adventure and I can see how a you g adult audience would enjoy it.
