Fun animotion book for young children

"Baby Turtle's Tale" is a sweet story about a baby turtle who finds himself left alone on the beach after hatching out a day later than the rest of his siblings. Thus begins his journey to the reef to be reconciled with his siblings - encountering other creatures along the way, i.e. a crab, gull, octopus, shark, and also being trapped in a fisherman's net. The story is simple enough that I think even children younger than 4 [the target age group is listed as 4-8] will be able to follow the story. The animotion windows throughout are a bonus feature that will fascinate young children as the movements of the illustrations give a sort of magical effect to the story. Apart from the animotion windows, the other illustrations are also colorful and vibrant and the overall effect is fun and pleasing. This is a beautiful and fun picture book that also has an educational theme, that of the plight of the endangered sea turtle [something than can be discussed with older children]. Highly recommended!

Cute Story and Educational!

"Baby Turtle's Tale" by Elle J. McGuinness is a cute story about a turtle hatching and finding its way back to his family in the ocean. With most of the pages, there are sections that move. The text rhymes. My son really liked this book. He had received another one about bees this past Christmas. At the end of the book there are several educational facts to learn about sea turtles. A great book to add to your child's collection! I really have nothing negative to say.

A Very Cute Book!

The book, "Baby Turtle's Tale" is about a baby turtle that was hatched a day late, and journeys on to his family. But during his journey home, he encounters other creatures of the sea: some are friendly and some are dangerous. 1. The book itself is very sturdy so it will endure much abuse by the kids. 2. Illustrations are rich and colorful. 3. The book includes "ani-motion technology" that parts of the drawing "moves" when you flap the page, which is very catchy for kids (for me too)! Nicely done. 4. At the end of the book, it teaches some basic facts about the sea turtles and what we could do to help their existence. This portion is very educational, making kids understand their natural surroundings and importance of our responsibility to keep them. Overall, my kids liked the book and was educational for them as well. Recommended!

Baby Turtle's Amazing Adventure

Baby Turtle is one of seven species of sea turtles. Mama Turtle came ashore, dug a hole in the sand, laid several eggs, and carefully buried them. One by one the eggs hatched during the next 45 to 70 days. One egg was left un-hatched. Mama turtle took her babies for a swim and to their new home in the reef. Early the next morning Baby Turtle broke out of his shell. He wondered where is family could be. A nearby crab pointed him in the direction the family had gone and warned of dangers on the beach. In clever rhyming lyrics the Baby Turtle's Tale is told. A seagull, giant waves, an octopus, a shark, and being snared by a fisherman's net are all a part of Baby Turtle's dangerous adventurous journey. The fisherman quickly released Baby Turtle back to the sea. Dolphins guided him on his way, as he let his instincts take over. Schools of bright-painted fish gave him a clue he was approaching the reef. Would he find his family there? Cheerful, brightly colored illustrations drawn by Romi Caron artfully complement the words of the narrative and the special Ani-motion windows created by Jeffrey Charles Cole and Heather Brown. A "Learn about Sea Turtles" section at the end of the books highlights information on this endangered species as well as offers suggestions for ways the young reader can help safeguard the Sea Turtle's future. A delightful and engaging read aloud book for families with young children.

Great images and story

This book has some nice holographic images that entertain the kids and a charming story of a baby sea turtle that comes out of his shell and tries to find his family. As soon as we received this book, my three year old does not want to leave it. He loved the holographic pictures and kept touching and moving them to figure out how the images change. The story includes many animals such as seagulls, octopus, fish, shark, dolphin that help expand the child's animal knowledge. At the end of the book, there are also two pages full of information about sea turtles such as the different species, the sea turtle average life span, etc. I'm glad that I got this book for my kids. I'm sure they will be reading it often.
