Great Afroprose

I'm a big fan of Tina McElroy Ansa. I just can't get enough of her. She hits it every time. She never dissapoints.

A true gem!!

This book was excellent! Very deep and detailed. I love the way the author talks about the relationship of the whole family. Many people expected this to be more sci-fi than fiction...I think this had the right combonation of both elements. A must read for anyone.

"Baby of the Family" was fantastic!

The entire story was so familiar, being that I grew up in the South. I've always heard from family members about babies born with veils being able to see ghosts, but I've never been convinced that it was anything other than superstition. It was extremely interesting to read about how it supposedly affects peoples' lives. Ms. Ansa is an extremely gifted writer. I felt like I knew each one of the characters in her story.

Couldn't put it down

Baby of the Family is more than just the story about a girl with special abilities. It is also a story about family and friendship in a small Southern town. Ansa touches on so many of the nuances, superstitions, and phrases that still exist in these towns. It took me back home to my small hometown in Louisiana, which I had previously considered an anomoly. I literally did not put this book down until I had devoured every last page
